Kids 1st is an employee-led initiative dedicated to improving the lives of our local youth by contributing our time, talents, and resources. Through encouragement, financial support, and meaningful tools, we help guide young people in a positive direction. Recently initiavatives include:
What’s with the elephant out front?
That’s not an elephant – it’s a Mastadon! Brooks Construction Company participated in the IPFW and United Way event entitled “Mastodons on Parade” to benefit the United Way through their sale at auction.
The Brooks-sponsored Mastodon is called Paths-odon: Crossroads of America to represent all the different transportation paths that have crossed through and continue to develop in our area. It begins with an Indian trail on the trunk and face and includes images of canals, railroads and early road transportation on the body. The legs comprise maps of our area, and it ends on the Mastodon’s back with a modern highway interchange and a high-tech aircraft landing on a runway. The artist did a marvelous job of representing the development of transportation on our behalf. In a public vote, the Brooks mastodon finished 8th out of 102 mastodons and was the only creation in the top 10 that didn’t feature significant modifications.
